This document provides a method for downloading the latest patch for the following product:
Details
Released on August 6, 2004, the latest build is version 1.0.1831. This patch is available for immediate download.
This download is for the .ocx file only. You will need to have a development license in order to write programs
using this control. This patch is not available in the main setup program and you will need to install this version
over the previous version any time you install the main setup program for this product.
What is Fixed
Previous versions of the OSButton caused a crash in Windows XP and in other rare situations. This
patch fixes the crashing, but eliminates the ability to display ToolTips. The way ToolTips work
in previous versions of this control are not compatible with Windows XP.
How to Install
- Close all development environments (such as Microsoft® Visual Basic®) which contain a reference to the OSButton control
- Enter your serial number and email address below to download the patch
- Save the file to the Windows\System or WinNT\System32 folder, where the existing .OCX is installed
- If you are prompted to overwrite this file, select yes.
- The OCX is binary-compatible. No need to re-register the file, but if you find that it does not work, you may try to register using the following command (substitute the <system[32]path> with the path of your Windows\System or WinNT\System32 folder on your computer):
regsvr32 <System[32]path>\varOSButton.ocx
- You do not need to re-compile your software. Simply install the new file with your product in the same way you would distribute the older version.
